生平
他生于印第安納州布卢明顿，母亲和父亲分别为Margaret Ruth (née Stocker)与 Norman Lott Webb，父亲Norman在威斯康辛大學麥迪遜分校担任数学教师[1][2]。在他18个月大的时候，他家搬到威斯康辛州的首府麦迪逊并在那里生活长大[3][4]。后来毕业于威斯康辛大學麥迪遜分校的英语专业。
