Deutsch: Ambrose Everett Burnside (* 23. Mai 1824 in Liberty, Indiana; † 13. September 1881 in Bristol, Rhode Island) war General der Unionsarmee im Amerikanischen Bürgerkrieg und später Mitglied des US-Senats und Gouverneur von Rhode Island.
English: Ambrose Everett Burnside ( May 23 1824 – September 13 1881) was a railroad executive, an industrialist, and a politician from Rhode Island, serving as governor and a U.S. Senator. As a Union Army general in the American Civil War, he was defeated in the disastrous Battle of Fredericksburg.
Nederlands: Ambrose Everett Burnside ( 23 mei 1824 - 13 september 1881) was spoorwegmagnaat, industrieel, gouverneur van Rhode Island en U.S. Senator. Als Noordelijk generaal in de Amerikaanse burgeroorlog werd hij vernietigend verslagen in de Slag bij Fredericksburg. Desondanks bleef hij de hele oorlog actief als generaal èn zeer populair.
Svenska: Ambrose Everett Burnside, född 23 maj 1824 i Liberty, USA, död 13 september 1881 i Bristol, amerikansk general, befälhavare under amerikanska inbördeskriget 1861-1865, bl.a. i slaget vid Fredericksburg. Deltog även i Mexikanska kriget 1846-1848.
