棕櫚蝮屬（學名：Bothriechis）是蛇亞目蝰蛇科蝮亞科下的一個有毒蛇屬，主要包括分布於墨西哥、中美洲以至哥倫比亞、秘魯等地區的一種蝮蛇。所有棕櫚蝮都長得較為幼細，而且活動於樹木之上。其學名「Bothriechis」源自希臘語，當中「bothros」代表洞而「echis」則代表蝮蛇，表現了具備頰窩的蝮蛇特性。[2]目前共有7個品種已被確認。[3]
特徵
棕櫚蝮大多幼細，平均長度只有60至80公分，不過黃斑棕櫚蝮、雙色棕櫚蝮及側帶棕櫚蝮則可能長越一米。[2]其吻部呈突出狀，擁有相當靈活並佔其整體長度15%的長尾巴。[2]棕櫚蝮的顏色主要由偏暗的綠色為基調，斑紋根據品種不同而定，有些品種身上有著黑色的條紋。[2]棕櫚蝮有著奇怪的習性，所有身處海拔1500米的品種均屬於日間活動為主的蛇類，居於1000米以下的棕櫚蝮則多為夜行性蛇類，而介乎1000至1500米的棕櫚蛇則可能活躍於任何一個時段。
地理分布
棕櫚蝮主要分布於墨西哥、中美洲至南美洲北部（包括哥倫比亞、委內瑞拉、危地馬拉及秘魯北部）。[1]
毒性
棕櫚蝮的蛇毒為溶血毒素，會令受害者傷口疼痛、腫脹、起泡、瘀傷及引起壞疽。如果不即時處理傷口，蛇毒可能會導致嚴重的後果，令受害者需要接受截肢手術，甚至死亡。每年均有不少農夫及園丁曾被睫角棕櫚蛇所咬，間中造成死亡事件。
