萨尔玛·梅尔盖利斯（英语：Sarma Melngailis，1972年9月10日—[1]），美国厨师和商人，是纽约两家纯素生食餐厅“纯粹的食与酒”（Pure Food and Wine）和“幸运小鸭”（One Lucky Duck）的东主和创办人之一[2][3]。两间餐厅后来都因员工欠薪离职而结业。梅尔盖利斯后来因为涉嫌诈骗而在2016年被捕，在2017年获判有罪。

生平

早年生涯

梅尔盖利斯在1972年9月10日生于马萨诸塞州牛顿，并在当地长大[1]。其父亲约翰·梅尔盖利斯（John Melngailis）生于拉脱维亚，后来在1949年因拉脱维亚被苏联吞并而移居美国[4]，及后担任麻省理工学院的物理学家[5][6]。梅尔盖利斯的母亲为一名职业厨师，亦是其对食物产生兴趣的原因[7]。

梅尔盖利斯在牛顿北高中（Newton North High School）毕业[7]后入读宾夕凡尼亚大学沃顿商学院，并在1994年以文理双学士学位毕业[3]。

金融机构时期

在宾夕凡尼亚大学毕业后，梅尔盖利斯迁往纽约，并在贝尔斯登公司任职，及后在1996年转投波士顿的贝恩资本，负责私人股权投资[3]。她在1998年重返纽约，加入加拿大帝国商业银行的一个高收益投资基金，但不久后便离职入读纽约的法国厨艺学院（French Culinary Institute）[2]，并在1999年毕业[1]。

2001年，梅尔盖利斯与当时的男友，厨师兼作家马修·肯尼（Matthew Kenney）[8][9]开设一家名为“小卖部”（Commissary）的餐厅，但在2003年在咨询杰弗里·乔多罗（Jeffrey Chodorow）的“中国烧烤管理”（China Grill Management）后结业[1]。后来三人在2004年6月于曼克顿格拉梅西公园开设纽约首家高档生食餐厅“纯粹的食与酒”[1][10][11][12][13]，并曾获得《纽约》杂志评选进入“百大餐厅”（Top 100 Restaurants）和“普拉特101”（The Platt 101）[14]，以及连续五年获选为《福布斯》“纽约全明星餐厅”（All Star New York Eateries）[15]。三人后来亦创办了外卖店“幸运小鸭”[16]。

欠薪争议

2015年1月，由于梅尔盖利斯拖欠一个月薪金，“纯粹的食与酒”和“幸运小鸭”的员工集体辞职[18]。这次是一年以内的第二次欠薪事件，第一次发生在2014年7月[19]。

梅尔盖利斯在2015年2月就员工集体离职发表声明，并将两家餐厅关闭[20]。她在接受《好加好》（Well+Good）访问时表示，薪金需要拖延发放是因为债务和原料成本昂贵导致利润微薄，再加上她忘记交租的缘故[21]。及后，梅尔盖利斯向员工作出另一个解释，指欠薪是由于银行转换所导致[22]。

2015年4月，“纯粹的食与酒”和“幸运小鸭”重新营业[23]，但大部分员工都选择不复工[24]。同年7月，余下员工再因欠薪而离职，两间餐厅及后倒闭[25]。

被捕及认罪协商

2016年5月12日，梅尔盖利斯和当时的丈夫安东尼·斯特兰吉斯（Anthony Strangis）[26]在田纳西州塞维尔维尔（Sevierville）被捕，他们是因斯特兰吉斯向达美乐披萨购买薄饼而被发现[27][28][29]。

斯特兰吉斯因本身为司法令上的逃犯而被捕，他同时被控重大盗窃、策划诈骗和违反劳动法。而梅尔盖利斯则被控重大盗窃、刑事税务诈骗、策划诈骗和违反劳动法[26][30][31]。

2016年12月19日，控方向梅尔盖利斯开出监禁三年的认罪协商条件[32][33]。据《名利场》所述，梅尔盖利斯的律师打算以“强制控制”作为辩护理由[34]。

梅尔盖利斯在2017年5月承认向投资者盗取2百万美元、策划诈骗以及刑事税务诈骗的罪名。她被判入狱四个月[35]。她在2018年5月与斯特兰吉斯离婚[36]。

2022年网飞纪录片《纯素败类：名誉、诈欺、逃犯》（Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives.）讲述梅尔盖利斯的丑闻，包括其与斯特兰吉斯的关系和其金融罪行[37]。
