指点设备（pointing device）是指一种输入接口（尤其是human interface device），允许user输入空间性（及连续和多维）数据到一台computer的。 CAD系统和graphical user interfaces（GUI）允许用户控制和提供数据到计算机，通过移动一个手持式鼠标或类似设备用物理gestures在物理桌面的表面上移动，然后用鼠标上的开关激活。Movements of the pointing device are echoed on the screen by movements of the pointer (or cursor) and other visual changes. Common gestures are point and click and drag and drop.
