拉布拉多灰狼（学名：Canis lupus labradorius）是一个原产自拉布拉多和魁北克省的灰狼亚种。它的颜色被描述为从深灰色到几乎白色[3]，与纽芬兰狼的血缘相近[4]。拉布拉多灰狼在分类学权威参考书世界哺乳动物物种 （2005年）中被认为是狼的亚种[5]。

描述

拉布拉多灰狼是中型狼，成年狼的平均体重从60磅到70磅（约27到32公斤）。拉布拉多狼有灰狼的许多特征。例如，它们有又长又浓密的尾巴、直立的尖耳朵和灰色的毛皮。但与灰狼不同的是拉布拉多狼的毛通常是白色或非常浅灰色，而不是深斑驳的灰色[6]。雌性拉布拉多灰狼的体型通常比雄性的的大。与雄性相比，雌性拥有更长的腿，更瘦的身体和更长的尾巴[7]。

历史

由于1900年代早期的过度狩猎，导致拉布拉多狼的目击在上世纪五十年代并不常见。大约在那个时期，驯鹿的数量开始以稳定的速度增长，也同时导致了狼群的增加。然而，拉布拉多狼数量的增加不足以抵消该地区驯鹿的持续增加，导致对捕食限制的假设需要重新考虑[8]。
