《殺戮演繹》是丹麥、英國、挪威合拍的2012年紀錄片，約書亞·奧本海默、克里斯蒂娜·辛恩與印度尼西亞匿名人士共同導演[1]。電影以各種好萊塢類型片風格重現1965至1966年印度尼西亞大屠殺劊子手的殺戮手段，探討大屠殺對印度尼西亞社會的重大影響[1]。鏡頭下昔日小罪犯在反共浪潮下引領強大處決隊，殺害五十到兩百萬疑似信奉、支持共產主義或有左派嫌疑的民眾，甚至只要是華人就難逃一劫[2][3][4][5]。參與屠殺的人物手握實權，機構影響重大，始作俑者一直身居高位、倍受尊敬，無需承擔任何代價[5][6]。這些劊子手不但把昔日行徑合理化，而且把參與屠殺當成值得自豪的功績吹噓，奧本海默震驚之餘決定用本片探討近大屠殺過去近半個世紀後如何繼續影響當今印尼人民的生活[7]。在他看來，本片最大的戲劇衝突在於政權一方面抹去屠殺痕跡，另一方面又大肆宣傳甚至頌揚，令倖存者恐懼、為公眾洗腦、讓劊子手繼續心安理得地享受生活[8]。

《殺戮演繹》2012年9月在科羅拉多州特柳賴德電影節首映，2013年7月9日在紐約公開首映[9][10][11]。電影的全球票房近50萬美元，錄像帶銷售進賬110萬美元[12]。影片在全世界範圍普受好評，評論匯總網站爛番茄共統計本片160篇評論，認可度達九成五[13]。Metacritic統計33篇評論後打出平均分91（最高100），代表「一致好評」[14]。

影片獲眾多榮譽肯定，其中最常見的是最佳紀錄片獎和奧本海默的導演獎，另有各種觀眾獎、特別獎，監製西涅·比約·索倫森、剪輯雅努斯·比利斯科夫·揚森和尼爾斯·帕赫·安德生均贏得肯定。英國電影和電視藝術學院、歐洲電影獎、羅伯獎授予本片最佳紀錄片，電影藝術與科學學院、評論家選擇電影獎、美國導演工會獎、獨立精神獎、國際紀錄片協會給予提名。為保障人身安全，與奧本海默共同執導的印度尼西亞人士必須保持匿名，無法走到台前接受肯定。[15]

《殺戮演繹》在印度尼西亞無法公映，僅在地下場館放映，但國際社會關注引來印尼媒體報道和對歷史的探討[16][17]。奧本海默上台接受英國電影學院獎時稱本片令關注1965至1966年大屠殺的人增多，「有助於印尼改變對過去的看法」[15]。他還利用各大獎項平台呼籲世人關注英美兩國對此次大屠殺「視而不見乃至助桀為虐」的「集體責任」[15]。影片入圍奧斯卡最佳紀錄片獎之際，《雅加達環球報》刊登印尼政府針對這段歷史的全版聲明[18]，是該政府史上首次對此次承認錯誤[17]。奧斯卡提名還在中國引發爭議，此前絕大多數中國人都不知道華人曾是1965到1966年大屠殺的主要目標[19]。
