梗概

在未來的將來，人的七情六慾都能變成致命威脅。為了淨化自己的DNA，主角加布麗艾兒用一台機器回到自己的過去，將所有帶來強烈情感的記憶抹殺到一二乾淨。在此過程中，加布麗艾兒遇到路易斯，兩人隨即產生強烈的情感紐帶，仿佛加布麗艾兒十分了解路易斯。影片劇情在三個不同時期中展開：1910年、2014年和2044年。

2021年1月20日，法國雜誌《頑固派（英語：Les Inrockuptibles）》表示德法公共電視台已向貝特朗·波尼洛的下一部電影、科幻劇情片《野獸》撥款，電影將由加斯帕德·尤利爾和蕾雅·瑟杜主演[10][11]。電影由法國公羊影業（Les Films du Bélier）、德法公共電視台、My New Picture，以及加拿大的Sons of Manual共同製作[2]。貝洛尼和賈斯汀·陶蘭德擔任執行製片人，札維耶·多藍和南茜·格蘭特（英語：Nancy Grant）擔任聯合製片人。為了生活（英語：Ad Vitam (company)）負責電影在法國的發行工作，海外發行則由Kinology負責[2]。

2022年5月16日，《綜藝》雜誌表示英國演員喬治·麥凱獲選為男主角[5]。消息指貝洛尼是通過一位美國的選角導演找到麥凱[15]，而麥凱是貝洛尼見過的最後一個主角人選，在倫敦試過幾次鏡後就入選[20]。貝洛尼表示經過兩到三分鐘的試鏡，麥凱很明顯就是主角的合適人選[20]。消息指電影將以法語和英語雙語製作，2022年8月起在法國巴黎及美國加州拍攝[5]。貝洛尼表示，麥凱加盟後，他對劇本唯一的修改，是將1910年部分的對白改成一半法語、一半英語[15]。Deadline稱喬治·麥凱為了本片學習法語，而影片的拍攝工作則在10月底繼續[21]。

拍攝

主體拍攝於2022年8月22日在法國啟動[2][22][23]。劇組曾在未經批准的秦光霞，在洛杉磯拍攝了幾晚[20]。拍攝工作於同年10月結束[21]。

發行

在被戛納電影節拒絕後[20]，電影於2023年9月3日在第80屆威尼斯影展全球首映禮[24]，首映版本中的片尾演職員表改為二維碼，觀眾掃描就可以看到演職員表視頻[25][9]。北美首映禮於2023年多倫多國際電影節（英語：2023 Toronto International Film Festival）舉行[26]。電影還獲邀到第28屆釜山國際電影節和第68屆巴利亞多利德國際電影節（英語：68th Valladolid International Film Festival）展映[27][28]。

電影原計劃於2023年11月8日由為了生活（英語：Ad Vitam (company)）在法國院線發行，其後推遲至2024年2月7日[29][30]。
