警備隊

警備隊（拉丁語：Vigiles），更恰當的說法是城市警備隊（Vigiles Urbani）或警備大隊（Cohortes Vigilum）是古羅馬城內的一支消防與警務隊伍。
公元6年，羅馬城發生火災，此後奧古斯都組建了這支隊伍作為常備消防隊[1]，其由被釋放的奴隸自由民組成[2]，最初包括七支大隊[2]。其職責除滅火外，此隊伍亦擔當着夜間守備的職責[1]。
