理查德·艾伦·巴特尔 FBCS FRSA （英语：Richard Allan Bartle，1960年1月10日—）是一名英国作家、教授和大型多人线上游戏行业的游戏研究员[1][2][3]。他在1978年共同创建MUD1（第一个MUD），并且是2003年《设计虚拟世界》一书的作者。
生平
1988年，巴特尔获得艾塞克斯大学的人工智能博士学位，作为一名本科生，他在1978年与罗伊·杜伯肖（Roy Trubshaw）一起创建了MUD1[4]。
他在艾塞克斯大学授课，直到1987年离开后全职从事MUD（现在的版本被称为MUD2）的工作。最近他回到大学担任计算机和电子系统系的兼职教授和首席教学研究员，指导计算机游戏设计课程，作为该系的计算机游戏制作学位课程的一部分[5]。
他是皇家艺术学会会士。
2003年，他写了《设计虚拟世界》，一本关于大型多人游戏的历史、伦理、结构和技术的书。
