蛸亚纲（学名：Coleoidea^[1]）是头足纲下的一类软体动物。它们不像鹦鹉螺亚纲般有硬壳，最多只有用来控制浮沉的内骨。一些物种甚至完全没有骨头，一些则以软骨来支撑。具有墨囊和腕钩。

蛸亚纲的分类是以触手的数量及结构来定界的。已灭绝及最原始的箭石下纲相信是有10只触手。较现代的物种其中一对触手可能已经进化或退化了。十腕总目的第四对手臂进化成为有吸盘的长触手。八腕总目的第二对手臂有不同的改变：幽灵蛸目演化成感应丝状物；八腕目则完全退化。

演化历史

最早的蛸亚纲物种在约3.3亿年前石炭纪的密西西比世发现。也有发现一些属于泥盆纪的疑似化石证据^[2]，但有古生物学家不认同^[3]。其实其他的头足纲物种亦内壳（例如：Sphooceras的化石显示这个物种亦有内壳），所以内壳的存在这个特征有可能是蛸亚纲物种在演化过程中把壳“内化”了，而事发时间推断在志留纪^[4]。依照这个理论推论，一种在早期到中期寒武纪出现的化石种类Nectocaris可能是一种经过二代外壳消失的头足纲物种^[5]^[6]。

到了石炭纪，蛸亚纲已经有多样的形态。虽然这些类别传统上都分类为箭石下纲，但它们的分别明显显示它们并非近亲。^[7]
