食海绵动物

食海绵动物（英语：Spongivore）是生物学中以海绵为食物的动物，在海龟中的玳瑁尤其常见。玳瑁演化出坚硬尖锐的嘴，使得它们能够到达珊瑚礁的缝隙中获取海绵。^[1] 加勒比玳瑁种群有高达95%的食物来自海绵构成。^[2]

主刺盖鱼（Pomacanthus imperator）^[3]^[4]、斑点棱箱鲀（Lactophrys bicaudalis）^[5]和墨西哥湾冠鳞单棘鲀（Stephanolepis hispidus）^[6]也是已知的食海绵珊瑚礁鱼类，其中盖刺鱼科的三色刺蝶鱼食用海绵占其食物的96%。^[7] 已知某些种类的裸鳃类动物选择性地以特定海绵为食。^[8]
