密西西比軟鱗鎧鯊（學名：Mollisquama mississippiensis），又稱美洲口袋鯊，[2] 是生活在墨西哥灣的一種軟鱗鎧鯊。
發現
這種鯊魚最初是由圖蘭大學的科學家們在2010年對抹香鯨進行研究時發現的。2013年，美國國家海洋和大氣管理局將其分類為為軟鱗鎧鯊屬，[3] 這是該區域首次發現的軟鱗鎧鯊。早在1979年，人們在智利海岸外捕獲了一種不同的軟鱗鎧鯊標本，[4] 這些鯊魚在體態大小、椎骨數量以及發光器官等方面的差異，被用來識別物種的不同。
形態
這種鯊魚的頭部呈球狀，類似於鯨魚的頭部。[5] 體型非常小，僅有5.5英寸（約140毫米）。在鰓附近有兩個形似口袋的部位，能分泌發光的液體，可助於這種鯊魚進行捕獵。[6] 身體呈灰色，鰭部顏色較深。鰓周圍的區域呈奶油色。[7] 身體周圍有光源器官的簇集而產生光亮。
