2012年奧羅拉槍擊事件是指發生在2012年7月20日清晨，美國科羅拉多州奧羅拉市《黑暗騎士：黎明昇起》電影首映式上的槍擊事件，一名頭戴防毒面具的槍手向奧羅拉中心（Town Center of Aurora）購物中心世紀16電影院（Century 16）內正觀看電影新片的觀眾進行掃射，並投擲了一枚催淚彈。共造成12人死亡，58人受傷。[1][7] 在2016年奧蘭多夜店槍擊案前，這是美國歷史上在和平時期傷亡總人數最多的槍擊事件，[8][9][10]本槍擊案地點距離1999年科倫拜校園槍擊事件案發地點只有13英里（約20.8公里）。[11]犯罪嫌疑人詹姆斯·伊根·霍爾姆斯隨後在電影院被逮捕。

過程

當槍手返回放映廳時大多數觀眾沒有覺得什麼，他穿著古怪，但其他人只認為他是為電影而打扮，只是一個惡作劇，直到他開始放煙霧，並用武器射擊。[12]

槍擊事件後

警方在劇院後他的車旁逮捕了不抵抗的槍手霍爾姆斯。調查人員從車內和電影院內回收了幾把槍。被捕時犯罪嫌疑人的頭髮是染紅的，他稱自己是「小丑」。[21]霍爾姆斯被單獨關押，2012年7月23日出庭。[22]

受害者

此次槍擊事件造成10人當場死亡，2人在醫院死亡。[23]初步報告說，有50或53人受傷。[1][7]數字隨後被更新為70人被槍擊，12人死亡和58人受傷。根據美國廣播公司新聞報導指出，受害者的人數使這次事件成為美國歷史上傷亡總人數最多的槍擊事件（但並非死亡人數最多的事件）。[24]

犯罪嫌疑人

背景
