轉錄因子E2F1是由人類E2F1基因編碼出的蛋白質[1]

該基因編碼出的蛋白質是E2F轉錄因子家族中的成員。E2F家族在控制細胞周期及抑癌基因功能上起到重要作用,也是小DNA致癌病毒轉化蛋白的靶點。E2F家族中的多個成員蛋白包含許多進化保守的結構域。這些結構域包括:DNA結合域、與受分化調控的轉錄因子蛋白(DP)之間相互作用的二聚化結構域、富含酸性胺基酸的轉活化結構域以及位於轉活化結構域中的抑癌蛋白關聯結構域。該蛋白與其他兩個成員E2F2及E2F3具有額外的周期蛋白結合結構域。該蛋白以細胞周期依賴性的模式優先與視網膜母細胞瘤蛋白pRB結合。它可以同時介導細胞增殖及p53-依賴/非依賴的細胞凋亡[2]
